I'm very happy that most of u people have completed the mandatory 5 hours of CIP by yesterday. The groups that work together happily stay united too.

By working together for the last 3-4 days, u had contributed to the cleanliness of not just ur teachers' homerooms & special rooms but also helped to clean the school garden area....BRAVO!!! I hope it was an enriching learning experience for all of u:)

I have had very good feedback from Ms Portia Tan, the CIP teacher co-ordinator. She will take over the remaining 6 people who have not met the required CIP hours from next week onwards. So.....these people must be available when u are called up -- Charlotte, Emmanuel, Shenazeer, Ling Jing, Victor & Zhen Qiu.

I know u are all very interested in the idea of having a class tshirt to show a sense of belonging and solidarity but seriously guys, we have to re-think the plan cos the time is short.

There are lots of post-exam activities, checkingof exam scripts & class CIP to do in all of next week; so ur time is fully booked. The last day of school will be Friday, 30 October with the Meet-the Parents Session & a talk for parents the next day.

Can I suggest that u write ur proposals & objectives first before we come to a mutual agreement that everyone is happy with:) Run ur ideas with the team and then we can follow up in Jan 2010. It will be a more enriching & satisfying task instead of doing things in a hurry ya!

So to reward urselves...we can go ahead and have a class t-shirt for 1e4...provided everyone supports the idea and is willing to pay at least $15.00 each. U can start discussing ideas on the design etc after the last paper on Thursday and begin to activate ur plans over the extended weekend that u will have from Friday onwards:) Which means that u have approximately 2 weeks from the planning stage to the end product......work smart:)

Need you be reminded that there are tests, assignments & projects that must be completed before the end of this month? That is only 2 days away! It's back to basics people (excuse the pun!) Marks have to be dished out but before that the work must come in...

Today, you have been too talkative & not listening to the instructions given. Dun want to preach or start niggling but you all must do your parts too, rite?

Remember: "You can do so much in 10 minutes' time. Ten minutes, once gone, are gone for good. Divide your life into 10-minute units and sacrifice as few of them as possible in meaningless activity."

If you want to do well in the final exams, you need to put in the effort now so that you can reap the rewards of your labour.

The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.

Yes, I overlooked the results - Germaine is one of those good performers with 3 A2s. U can do better than that right, Germaine:)

The new blogskin is somewhat gothic...what young uns like u people like. But as Wei Li has noted, it's a bit tiring for the eyes to read the posts. Especially for an ex-young un like me..lol:)

How have u been spending the last couple of days? Playing computer games or basketball or as the pretty boy always say...sleeping a lot:)

Enjoy the remaining time but dun throw ur books aside cos once 14 Sept comes, u have hardly any time to look back but must speed ahead to finish up the syllabuses and what not for all subjects. Just a friendly reminder:)

First of all let me congratulate all those who have done well for the 2nd Common Test and got a score of Distinctions for their Progress Marks this term.

Congrats to these good performers with at least 3 Distinctions:

• Emmanuel: 5 Distinctions - 3 A1s& 2 A2s
• Charlotte: 4 Distinctions - 4 A1s
• Ellie: 4 Distinctions - 3 A1s & 1 A2
• Eunice: 3 Distinctions - 2 A1s & 1 A2
• Shenazeer: 3 Distinctions - 1 A1 & 2 A2s

While Emmanuel has made good progress and given Raphael some fight, I'm sure both Charlotte and Eunice will come back with a vengeance next term, as their performance this term had been affected somewhat by their ILI absence during the common test period.

For the rest of you, continue to put ur academic studies above other less important pursuits, for surely all want to be promoted to 2E4 next year. No one should allow himself or herself to go to a NA class instead. Make that ur personal challenge & goal for term 4.

Continue to study hard and play hard during this short September break and come back fully charged and raring to go.

Enjoy the holidays while it last, whether u are at home or at school doing CCA training or even going away for a break:)

Good Health & Cleanliness is next to Godliness!

As what I've mentioned this morning, you should all be sympathetic to your classmates who have come down with flu or Influenza-like-Illness this week - all 5 people who reported sick today & 1 being sent home. Do not be juvenile about this and celebrate other people's illness:(

On your parts, take extra care over your health; drink plenty of water, take your multi-vitamins or Vit C and have plenty of sleep & rest. Be socially responsible!

You still have 3 more papers to go through before the CT ends on Thursday and I'm sure you do not want to "sacrifice" your Progress Marks unnecessarily.

Take good care of yourselves; for those who are unwell and resting at home. And for those who remain strong & healthy, sharpen your brains - continue studying for your remaining CT papers.

We were like so busy doing all the decorations and etc.
The class was like freaking messy. I was supposed to go home at 1.30 pm but i end up going home at 5.30pm. I will tell more on about Friday at my blog.

So people of 1E4, please bring your own photo on MONDAY. Mrs Sulaiman wants current photo and not recent photo.The photo must be bigger than passport size photo. The photos are for the class page. If you dont understand or whatever, you may ask Mrs Sulaiman for more details.

It's time again for our checklists of what's coming up & what needs to be done.
National Day celebrations are just 9 days away and we have sooo many things to complete for instance:

1. Class page/photo montage & Dedications tothe Nation: bring ur photos (new not old) or digicams for more class snapshots
2. Class t-shirt design for ND with the theme: "Come Together, Reaching Out & Reaching Up"
3. Group Reflections for ND to be uploaded on the website http://www.ndpeeps.com

All these must be done by next Wednesday...so any takers to lead the 3 segments? The efforts must be based on teamwork and not individual work.

Let me know in class by this Thursday, so that the work can be shared evenly.

The internatioal students can come together with a group message to celebrate Singapore's 44th bdae:)

Shenaz, if u are well enough, look into the t-shirt design bearing the ND theme. Design & painting can be done by some other people in the class.

FRIENDSHIP BRINGS OUT THE BEST & WORST IN EACH OTHER


Today, something else happens after school hours......when you were given the permission and time to use the class for a small group project, it should have been time spent fruitfully & happily in the company of friends.

Yet, it was not to be as some misunderstanding & harsh words were exchanged.

This is what I want to remind all of you:

"United we stand, Divided we fall"

For all those involved, please reflect on your words & actions today & I hope you will forgive each other and forget the pain & unhappiness caused onto yourselves.

I would like to share some meaningful quotations about Friendship with all of you.

Conversations with the Class

That was what I intended to do instead of calling it a detention session for all.......

Nonetheless, you were pretty impatient to sit through it as we tried to get over the technical glitch.

For those who go to the class blog regularly enough, you would have figured out by now that I was pretty distressed by your behaviour and lack of sensitivities:(

Save for Raphael whom, I think sensed my feelings, and tried to send me an apology of sorts on behalf of the class, the rest of you seemed blissfully unaware that you have hurt my feelings with ur insensitive behaviour.

We need time to talk with each other and get things sorted out before it gets more pronounced. Like a bitter pill or medicine that you have to swallow to cure all aches and pains, you need to give and make time for the class to get better with each passing day.

I want all of you to do well not just academically but to build ur character too -- so that you grow to become more discerning and understanding of the people around you -- instead of reacting in a childish & naive way.

Post ur feelings or thots in the blog if u think the class is doing things right or if they can learn to refrain from doing the wrong things.

Staggered recess times & CCA Updates ETC

The letter of notification should be read by your parents as well as it shows that the school is taking an active approach in ensuring that health measures are maintained.

So when you go down for "normal" recess" please maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness. Social distancing should still be practised as much possible.

Normal CCA will officially resume from week 4 onwards.


I do not want to keep you back in class longer than is necessary. But your general behaviour and attitude in class leaves much to be desired. So why can't we work hand in glove so that 1E4 can shine through as a lovely class which is respected by both your peers and your teachers? Do not embarrass me by proving that you are incapable of puttting up a good behaviour & capable of earning the respect of others.

Food & Food and more......


Hi people
We've managed to survive the 1st week of school & despite the problems faced with food orders & monies paid up, I think we have stood by each other as a class. That is the way to go and not to push the blame on another person.

Charlotte has had to handle a lot lately & shoulder more responsibilities as the class chairman. Give her ur support and work alongside each other. Money alone cannot buy trust & friendship.....trust me cos I've been through all of those when I was ur age:)

Fyi, I've paid up $195 in cash for the total orders as the food coupons exchanged are counted as monies too. Any other shortage or excess monies are automatically channelled to the class fund & Syairah is controlling that by reporting the details to me.

I could see by the drop in orders for Tuesday, that many of u feel that it is too troublesome to order food from the canteen. By all means u are encouraged to bring food prepared at Mum's kitchen for healthy & hygienic food:)

Things will remain status quo when u come back to school on Tuesday as far as lessons in homerooms & CCA are concerned.

On another note:
Bring ur travel declaracaration forms on Tuesday.

For all youngsters like u, have a good break during the Youth Day weekend.
For the others like me, I need to recharge my batteries too:)

Food & Food

Helloo there
There is slight change for the Halal food menu for tomorrow. Instead of black pepper chicken rice & omelette, it will be white rice, with black pepper chicken & omelette & vegetables:)

There's no change in the menu for the Non-Halal food.

And anyone who has not given the money to Charlotte for either food or drinks have to bring extra $$$ tomorrow to make payment in full. It is a fairly large amount of money involved; more than $200.00 for food and drinks for the last 4 days for the class.

Please relay the message & co-operate by paying in full:)

Hopefully, by next Monday you can go to t he canteen for "normal" recess.....

The general office is pressing me for the food order list for Thursday NOW! Since I did not receive it, I'm going to follow Wednesday's order list by default. That means for Halal food: Briyani Rice & the Non-Halal Food only. NO CHANGES ALLOWED!!

Please don't complain if it doesn't not appeal to ur taste buds. Better to have food than not to eat like some of the poor and under-nourished people in Africa.......

H1N1 contigency measures is a big headache

Although we have had teething problems over the food distribution and they may not be what you would expect from Mum's kitchen or a fast food outlet or even something from West Coast Plaza, at least the school is making plans for all the students not to go hungry:)

And yes, Raphael....though you expected the food to be given gratis, sadly it is not so. Have you not heard that "nothing is free" these days and that, Singapore is a fine city. As such we are extra "kiasu" when it comes to be the first in getting there, or getting this or in this instance, "not getting infected by H1N1"


Look at the bright side guys...you are eating admidst the greenery in a quiet spot that would not usually be frequented. What's more, you don't have to queue but the food & drinks comes to you.....of course with the help of your ever helpful friends.......Charlotte, Syairah, Emmanuel & Raphael:)

I'm sure some will be happy to hear the news while some may be disappointed cos u thot u are going to get an extended holiday...ha...ha..ha....

Some important things to note on the first day of school:

1. Bring ur thermometer cos there be be 2 temperature takings daily
2. If u have returned from a country affected by H1N1 or have come into contact
with someone elese who does, INFORM me ASAP.
3. Those who are unwell but still come to school on the first day will be put in the infirmary and
parents will be called to fetch u home
4. The class will stay in my homeroom for all lessons...more instructions will be given on Monday


I've tasked Charlotte and Wei Li to collate ur email addresses & other computer-related info.

Btw not a single soul came for the training today. Yes, that's rite, zero attendance for the Singtel/CLC training from the class for today's session. Which is very embarrasing for the FT you know! All the other Sec 1classes had almost full attendanc out of the 6 class reps. selected.

So that means that these people who have been selected to attend the training session will have to turn up tomorrow ..die..die..must come - Thurs 28 May from 3.30-5.30 pm at the comp lab.

Buesnos dias:) Are all of you getting excited about International Friendship Day Celebrations this coming Friday? I am as it will also be the culmination of the Mexican comedy that I have been doing with the ELC since January.

Can you get into the spirit of the Mexican fiesta by wearing red or green ribbons on your wrists during the celebrations in the hall? You can make claims for that from the class fund, with clearance from both the Treasurer and I.

Take plenty of photos to add to the class blog showing how you would have participated in the fiesta in one way or another.

New Look or class bulletin board

Hi there everyone
How do you like the new skin? That's Shenaz's contribution:) Keep the class bulletin going with news update regularly okie? That way everybody stays connected with what's new and what's out.

This coming week, keep the Mexican spirit going by thinking, watching and even sharing Mexican songs, movies etc etc...think Zorro with Catherine Zeta Jones or even quirky songs like Speedy Gonzales. Why dun you look out for such music or video clips and share it with the class next week?

Not to forget, give Shenaz lots of support for her involvement in the Mexican folk-comedy: Sunday Costs 5 Pesos. You will be watching that as part of the fiesta to celebrate International Friendship Day.
